In General there are three different types of health insurance contracts:

• Individual Health Insurance - This is a contract between an insurance company and an individual or a family. These policies are underwritten based on the medical history and any pre-existing conditions. The individual and NOT a company must pay premiums. • Small Group Insurance - Genrally, these are contracts between an insurance company and a business with two to 50 employees. An individual may be considered a Business Group of One if certain criteria are met. Rates are determined by the insurance companies and some groups may qualify for a discount, or a rate up depending on the health status of the employees in the group.
